Aviation

Learning to fly demands skill, precision and discipline. As one of the region's few faith-integrated aviation schools, Jessup also knows flying serves a greater purpose. You'll train for the technical demands of flight while developing the judgment and character pilots need at 30,000 feet.

Why Jessup

Four young adults sitting outdoors on steps, studying and discussing with notebooks and pens.

Faith First

Since 1939, faith and learning haven't lived in separate rooms here. They're woven together in the classroom, in chapel, and in the way our faculty teach. You won't have to choose between growing your mind and deepening your faith. Here, they grow together.

Affordable Excellence

We're the most affordable private Christian university in Northern California, and we don't make you guess what it'll cost. Nearly every student receives aid, and we get you clear numbers early so you can plan with confidence. Exceptional education is within reach.

Safe All Around

Safety here means more than a secure campus in one of California's safest cities. It's a place that's safe spiritually, safe emotionally, and safe to take the risks that help you grow. This is somewhere you can stretch, stumble, and become who God made you to be.

Community

Small classes mean you're known by name, not lost in a lecture hall. Faculty who mentor, friends who show up, a campus where people actually see you. You'll find your people here, and they'll walk with you.

Regional Proximity

More than 60% of our students come from within a hundred miles, so you're close enough to home without being right on top of it. You'll be rooted in a NorCal network of churches, employers, and internship connections across the Sacramento corridor. Familiar ground, with room to grow.

Mentorship

From day one you'll have advisors, internships, and a clear path toward a career that matters. We focus on high-impact fields like health sciences, business, psychology, leadership, and aviation, and every student is grounded in Bible and theology. We don't just hand you a degree. We help you find your calling and walk with you toward it.

FAQs

Answers to what prospective aviation students ask us most.

What aviation degree programs does Jessup offer?

There are two aviation degree programs at the Rocklin campus. The Aviation degree runs as an Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science for future professional pilots, and the management degree prepares leaders for the aviation industry. Transfer students, including those coming from a community college with a start on their bachelor's degree, are welcome to apply.

What is the R-ATP advantage at Jessup?

Jessup holds a Letter of Agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration that authorizes graduates to apply for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot certificate at as low as 1,000 flight hours instead of the standard 1,500, depending on the degree option, shortening the pilot training path toward airline pilot careers and a major airline flight deck.

Where does flight training happen?

Flight training runs through Jessup's partner flight schools, Skyrise Aviation, WINGS Flight School and Sky Trails Aviation. Each flight school offers experienced flight instructors, large fleets of training aircraft and year-round California flying weather, and many student pilots ask a partner flight school about a discovery flight as a first step.

What is the difference between FAA Part 141 and Part 61 flight training?

Both pathways lead to the same FAA pilot certificates and ratings at the same standard. The main differences lie in minimum required flight time and training style. Jessup's aviation department offers aviation flight training avenues for both through its flight school partners.

What do flight training costs look like?

Flight training costs and flight fees vary by pathway, flight school and the pace each student pilot sets. Prospective pilots should contact the partner flight schools for current figures and talk with Jessup about financial aid and aid eligibility, which depend on each student's situation.

Can I transfer FAA pilot certificates for academic credit?

Yes. Accepted certificates and ratings include Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Single-Engine Land and Multi-Engine Land, Certified Flight Instructor, CFII and MEI., so pPilot training already completed keeps its value.

What does the Aviation Management degree cover?

The 51-unit core blends aviation and business coursework for leadership in airline, airport, charter and logistics environments. Courses cover operations, safety and regulatory systems that keep the aviation industry moving.

What careers do aviation graduates pursue?

Graduates fly as professional pilots in commercial, military and missionary aviation, building flight hours toward airline pilot careers, while Aviation Management graduates step into administrative and operational leadership. Many pilots build time as a certified flight instructor at a flight school on the way to the airlines.

How do I choose an aviation college?

Look for a collegiate aviation program with FAA pathways, established flight school partners and faculty who have flown professionally. Jessup pairs a faith-based college education with aviation science coursework and flight training through trusted partners, and students train close to campus.

Is Jessup's aviation program faith-based?

Yes. Jessup is one of a few faith-based collegiate aviation programs in Northern California, preparing adept, certified and ethical pilots, the next generation of aviation professionals, who deepen their faith through biblical studies alongside aviation science.
